Early on I shared my sewing space in this post. Of course an important part of a sewing space is storage in general and in particular, for fabric. Since I signed up for the Sunday Stash group I thought this would be a good intro...tomorrow when it is officially Sunday, I'll do my first Stash Post.
My sewing space is in my basement guest room that was recently completed. Since we did most of the work ourselves I got to pick out a lot of the particulars. At the top of the post are the top two drawers (love the full extension)of a built in dresser. The bottom drawer (directly above) has flannel, kits and more primitive pieces.
The closet stores apparel fabrics, patterns, precuts & fat quarter sets on the upper shelves. The drawers on the lower left contain notions & supplies. The table & bins are for current projects & bulky items like pillow forms.
Once I use up a bit of inventory the rolling carts below will go into the closet below the shelves. The shelving system is an adjustable Elfa type (the basement was finished before the Container store came to MN) and it is my big splurge/treat for myself in the basement. I absolutely love it!
As I'm typing this I just realized I didn't take photos of another storage item. I have a queen size bed similar to the Pottery Barn platform bed with drawers below it. I keep home decorating fabric in those drawers... And if you lift the mattress up there is a space between the drawers for rolls of home dec fabric.
I need to stop typing right now... this is starting to sound like I have too much space?! (If there is such a thing?)
Come back tomorrow for the first Stash post...It should be called the Minick & Simpson report.
