Detour: Framed Robots Baby Quilt

My WIP list is rather long these days... the zig zag quilt along, the 9 patch a day quilt along and another quilt scheduled to arrive via UPS this Wednesday from the long arm quilter that will be ready for binding. But sometimes, everything has to come to a screeching halt due to another deadline or occasion. Well, that is what has happened here... I have to have a baby quilt done to deliver on Thursday afternoon. The occasion (baby) isn't a surprise, I've just kept delaying in the interest of being less of a beginner... My sons' pediatrician, who we've seen for 7 years, had a baby this spring and came back to work a month or so ago and Thursday will be the first we'll see her since...the quilt is for her baby boy.

The pattern is Framed by Bay Window Quilts and the fabric is Robots by David Walker. ( I purchased a kit from Bay Window Quilt Shop in Perham, MN this spring.) I cut the top out Saturday afternoon nap time and finished sewing most of it after the kids went to bed, save a few directional issues that were remedied Sunday. Today I'm off to my LQS to get thread for quilting and to Lowes for some blue tape... I'm going to use an irregular grid pattern to quilt it and hoping the tape will expedite the process. Wish me luck!

Wow, that's gorgeous!! Fabulous pattern and your fabric choices are perfect - good luck with the quilting and stop worrying about being a "beginner", you're fab!!

P.S. My word verification is PUKESS - appropriate for a baby quilt, aye? *g*

I LOVE your baby quilt! This take on the wonky blocks is so cute and different! I love it when people make up their own cute patterns for me to file in the back of my brain :) Thanks for stopping by, that pillow is just stuffed with stuffing since I was too lazy to hunt for a circle form. Thanks for saying hi -Allison

It's so cute! I was in MN recently and wanted to go to that quilt store in Perham but didn't make it. I did get to see that one in Detroit Lakes though - it was pretty nice too!
