Glorious Color

Unfortunately I don't have a Kaffe Fassett quilt to show you... but I do have lots of color! I was doing a little school supply browsing today and decided to pick up my annual stash of Halloween treats. My kids have food allergies so we don't hand out candy since there really isn't much they can eat, but rather pass out crayons. At 25 cents apiece per child (when I first started they were only 10 cents each) it has to be comparable to candy, particularly if you're the generous kind that does all the fancy bags and such. I acknowledge this is not at all quilting related, but it's one of those things that I actually felt pretty clever for thinking of and decided to share. I even get enough to hand out for either a birthday or holiday party favor at my sons' classrooms.

Something I did find today at Officemax that any quilter could use are these graph paper filled composition notebooks. I could have used a few pages of one of these when I made so many drafts of my zigzag quilt!

I found a free tutorial/pattern to make a quilted cover for the composition notebooks at Better Homes & Gardens' All People Quilt website Each quarter they have a challenge and this quarter it is this notebook cover, so click here to get their pattern.

Lastly, if you haven't entered my honeybun giveaway, click here, you have another day and a half to enter. It's been fun to see all the entries and check out your blogs!

What a FANTASTIC idea!!! I can't resist a new set of colored pencils myself, so what kid can't use a couple more crayons!

I've gotta find me one of those composition books with the graph paper! That would make drafting blocks SO much more fun.

That is a great idea :) Unfortunately no one ever knocks on our door on halloween. It must be my scary screened in porch. This year I think I'll try something other than candy (so much healthier) and hope we get some kids!

What a GREAT idea for an alternative to candy...plus, what child does not enjoy getting a new box of crayon....I know I do & I'm 25...know I think I'll go color with my new box that I just picked up (for my boys that is).
