Wonky Log Cabin Quilt Along

Despite not being done with Round 2 of the Old Red Barn Quilt Along (zig zag quilt), I'm joining up again. This time the group is making a Wonky Log Cabin Quilt. Quilt Dad (John) has stepped up to lead the group.

I chose a selection of 29 FQ from my stash, Friendly Folk by Sandy Gervais. I am going to use the aqua kona cloth on the bottom of the stack as my sashing. Hopefully, it will modernize this assortment a bit - it was from an era of more primitive taste. I am wondering though about the center of the blocks... should I use of of the aqua coordinates in there, a red one or just random? I just want the aqua to enhance the selection not stick out like a sore thumb? Any ideas?

If you would like to join the group or just check it out, go to the Flickr group OR John's blog, quiltdad.

Nice fabric choices for log cabin quilt, although I do not know what a wonky log cabin block looks like. I think I will follow your blog to watch the progress!

Love the idea of the aqua. I think I would use an aqua print for the middle so it isn't screaming out. Can't wait to see it progress.

It doesn't look to me that the aqua would be standing out. But I don't think that yo will truly be able to tell until you start piecing it together.

Love this color combo...the aqua is NICE..and will definetly modernize it a bit..but not overwhelm it...the center should be okay since you have some of the aqua in the block strips and the border. I think it will be lovely!!
