3x6 Sampler Bee

This is my first block for the 3x6 Sampler Bee. For this particular bee each participant sews a block for 6 other hive members choosing the block pattern. Each participant picks their own colors.

I like the Dutchman's Puzzle because while it is a traditional block it still mixes well with more modern ones and also it can also easily be done in a 2 or 3 color scheme. I assembled each flying geese unit with 2 - 3.5 inch squares and a 3.5 x 6.5 inch rectangle so I would end up with lots of little HSTs and also avoid bias edges.

I did this for the Friday Night Sew In... sadly it was my main accomplishment as my DSQ8 progress from that night (discovered a style inconsistency that must be remedied!) is going to meet the seam ripper! Nonetheless, I had a fun night sewing & hanging out my 3 year old.

Love that block! Sorry to hear about DQS8 setback, but your quilt is going to be so great - I loved what you had prepared so far.
