From the Fig Tree Quilts Easiest Accessory Bags Ever pattern, I made two Girly Girl bags for my 8 & 10 year old nieces' birthdays. I used the Olivia fabric collection by Rosemarie Lavin for Windham.
I love how these cute lined bags turned out and know that I will be adding one for myself to my lengthy to do list. I made just a few notes on the pattern: the dimensions given are 11x12, I chose this size hoping the girls could used it for notebooks or hairbrushes and such. With the wide bottom the bag was not really large enough to enclose a standard notebook, so I would say the bag is closer to 7.5 x 10 x 5. Also the instructions indicated to finish each ribbon end separately and then tie them... I just rolled up two ends of the ribbon and finished them together which I think is cleaner looking. (You can see this on the photo above.)
And as a bonus, from the leftover fabric I also made them each a coordinating curling iron sleeve using Heidi's tutorial.
So now you know I made jammies & bags for my nieces...what are some of your favorite gifts to sew?
