ORB Hexagon QA

This round of the ORB Quilt Along is hexagons led by Julie. Given that I have just a few UFOs, I decided just to make a runner/table topper along with the group. Julie indicated there would be several blocks but after seeing her photos in the last week or so, I got my inspiration. The seven hexagons below will make one rather large hexagon once I fill in those empty triangle spaces with white kona. This will be a table topper for my dining table.

We have a very open floorplan so I decided to make one large hexagon for a mini topper for my kitchen island/bar.

These five hexagons will end up as three hotpads/potholders when completed.

Being a bit nervous about the bias edges, I used my Best Press on the strip sets before cutting out the pieces and I just love how it worked. Everything pressed so nicely with no distortion or stretching. I am glad that I recently bought a gallon (JoAnns online with a 50% off coupon) since I will be now using it more liberally than in the past!

The four fabrics below that were used in this project were from FabricCloset on Etsy (last summer) (Park Slope by Erin Morris & Flights of Fancy by Paula Prass) and then I added the Amy Butler Love dots and Anna Griffin tangerine print from my stash...

To see all the other hexagons, check out the ORB flickr group.

Great hexagons Karen! Love your fabric choices!
And did you win some fat quarters at the meeting the other night?
