PQS3: Kaffe Fassett Triangular Log Cabins, a Collision of Color

A week or two ago I shared just a peek of my Placemat Quilt Swap 3...and now I just can't keep it to myself any longer. A few of the requests from my partner were for something very bright and also traditional blocks with a twist.

I had just borrowed this book from my mom and decided the triangular log cabins were "it" since I had to enlarge the paper piecing just a bit to get to the desired place mat size.

I used strips of all the warm and bright orange, red, hot pink and green Kaffe Fassett fabrics from my stash (the olive & orange dot is a AMH print and the only non Kaffe print) and this was the end result. This place mat is the most favorite thing to me that I have ever made...I love Kaffe Fassett fabrics and the collision of colors that is produced in this layout.

And if you have a thing for Kaffe Fassett fabrics like I do, be sure to check out Jackie and Nedra's blogs...I think they love them too! And one last link... the Kaffe Fassett flickr group.

I love this place mat, although the photos have vanished by now (though they still appear on Flick). What width strips did you use, and what size did your blocks end up? I won a Kaffe Fassett jelly roll a while ago, and have been eyeing up this design as a possibility, although I'd be making it baby quilt size.
