My favorite thread is Superior Thread, which disappears into the quilt, depending on which color you use. Love it!

And you on my Google Reader, and I love it!

You've got a lot of fabrics! I'm in love with the Urban Chics for Moda - love those pokas. I would also love to hear about your thread research - I don't really keep track, so I'm constantly using different threads and don't remember if there is something I don't like. Maybe a MQG topic? Congrats on your shop and blog posts!

How nice, thank you! I have been having difficulties with my one year old machine, trying to figure out what thread it likes. I piece with Aurofil and Prescencia (?)50wt and have some King Tut from Superior Threads that I have yet to try, but it came highly recommended for free motion machine quilting.

We don't have as much choice in thread here in New Zealand, but I use Guttermann, Seralon, Monlykre or Mettler.

Hmm. I'm just getting into quilting, so I don't have much to contribute here. Generally it's just whatever brand I find the color I'm looking for either at Joann's or the local quilt shop. I do tend to try to get 100% cotton when I can though.

I know this is probably not the thread of choice for most quilters, but I really do like to quilt with Coats and Clark. I have also used Connecting Threads and I like them as well. My son has a quilt I made for him over ten years ago, and it is still going strong. He sleeps with it every night. I did have to redo the backing a couple of years ago, but the threads held up very well.

felicity said...

Congrats on your milestones! I piece with Aurifil, and I usually quilt with Gutermann or Signature brand threads. I see some recs for King Tut - will have to give it a try!

Sounds like a good enough reason for a giveaway! Hope your janome fund goes well! I mostly use Guutermann threads mainly because they are readily available. I do need to branch out I think and try other brands. Coats and Clark is another one I use, mainly for hand quilting thread. I've just hearted your shop.

My favorite thread needs to be the one that I can actually buy locally (Walmart) at a reasonable cost - C&C thread- all purpose thread, hand quilting, and machine quilting. If I could afford it, most of my hand quilting thread would be Mettler silk. But, postage is pricey when buy via web sites.

OKay I am SOOO Bad at the thread part! usually when it comes to quilting the quilt I have already poured so much money into it that I just can't justifying paying $20 for thread!! SO sometimes I buy the more expensive ones....can't think of the name, but they are the varigated ones. I think only one people make it, but it's the big roll, its about $11 at Joannes. And I use a coupon for it.

But I usually just use the Clark and Coats or Coats and Clark. It is strong and durable to me. I tried the Silky kind once and I couldn't even sew or quilt with it! So there are my two bits! :D Good luck!

Normally, I piece w/the big fatty spools of Coats & Clark from Joanns...and sometimes quilt with it too! Also use Guterman. I've used King Tut once (on a long-arm, no less), and it quilted wonderfully, but because it's 100% cotton, it did create some dust - I kept having to blow off off my needle. Really, I use whatever matches best and I can find w/minimal effort, lol :)
