Quilt Pink

Last February, I was one of several quilters from the Old Red Barn Flickr group that contributed blocks to this quilt made for Team Tiara's fundraising effort.  Team Tiara is a Cypress, Texas based group of women that not only participate in the 3 Day Walk to raise funds for breast cancer research... but do a heck of a lot of other things to raise money also.  This quilt entitled, Hope Knows No Bounds, by Nichol Hardy the quilter that completed the final assembly, was featured in a calendar created by Team Tiara and was auctioned off at a recent Team Tiara Gala for $1200.

Wow! was all I could think of.  There are many charitable efforts accross the blogiverse that are available for us to contribute to.  I have been blogging for about 15 months now, this was the first effort that I have participated in that has come full circle in such a blatant manner.  I wanted to share this story because I just marvel at how those blocks we made became quilts featured in a calendar that will raise money for breast cancer research and then the quilts themselves are being sold to raise even more money.

You can read more at Team Tiara's blog and view several additional quilts that they are auctioning on their ebay site where you can purchase the calendars as well!  Hats off to all the members of the ORB flickr group that contributed to a a total of 5 (someone correct me if I'm wrong) quilts for breast cancer!~

Stunning quilt - I think samplers are still the best & the pinks are truly beautiful. Great cause.
