Sunday Stash: Trick or Treat Street

Trick or Treat Street was designed by Sherry Berry for Northcott/Lyndhurst last year..it is a fun and modern Halloween group.  I happened to find these fat quarters at, of all places - JoAnn's.  I don't think the green star print at the top of the photo was in the original group but it was included in the bundle.  This isn't the first time I've found quilt shop fabrics at JoAnn's in their bundles.  I have previously found several bundles of Katie Jump Rope by Denyse Schmidt and have read of others finding Heather Ross prints.

What I wonder is are they overstocks, seconds in that there is flaw that that I'm not aware of? If anyone knows I'd sure like to find out...  I never buy quilt fabric at JoAnns but these obvious gems are too tempting to leave alone!

Huh those are really interesting finds at JOANN'S of all places. I am curious to know how that works too!

Some people have mentioned that the designer fabric found at Joann's is printed by the fabric company but on cheaper materials for sale at chain stores. Some companies (such as Moda) don't do this at all. I think you can still find the higher quality cottons at chain stores sometimes too but it's usually seconds or overstock.

Those are too cute!! Who knows....but I can see why you didn't want to leave them behind!

Not sure on the "how" of getting there, but I've found Heather Ross, Cosmo Cricket, and a couple other lines in the BIG bins at our Joann's. Some of the Heather Ross had snags/cuts in it, but the majority could be salvaged. I'd be curious to know, too, the background of their appearance.

Very cute. Were the selvages cut off? I've found designer fabrics that way in bundles but very rarely... I wonder if they were sold to JoAnn's as over runs, but they weren't allowed to say whose fabric it was.. ?

Interesting point... the 'good' fabric I have found at J's always has the selvages cut off. I do not think that the stuff I have found is a less quality fabric, as I put it side by side with same from quilt store in the case of a bundle of Kaitie Jump Rope.
