I have very few batiks...but some are simply too stunning to pass up. I pieced the simple table square above a few Christmas' ago with a kit that I purchased from a quilt shop in Rochester, MN that has since closed. I just loved the simple elegance of it.
The red poinsettia batik below was supposed to be the backing but I felt like it was a bit of a waste so instead found a few more prints to go with it if I want to make a coordinating project of some sort. As I recall, both of these are by Hoffman but without a selvedge I can't be sure. ( Batiks must not generally include selvedges? )
Perhaps if you don't usually consider batiks these will make you pause... I am one of those people that really does like all the fabric types - I think you just need the right design or place to make them sing.

Agreed. Some of the Christmas batiks are my favs. I can't recall ever seeing a selvage on a batik...
I love batiks. I also love all types of fabrics and styles.
I have been collecting batiks, so I can start making some art pieces.

I love batiks- I love how the colors and shades are different intensities.
These poinsettia ones are stunning- I love the colors that you chose to be your borders.
Thanks for sharing your lovely pieces.

Anna
I am not a lover of batiks for quilting (tempted often to get for little summer tops) but this is stunning!
I love the poinsettia batik! Batiks are some of my favorite fabrics but somehow I don't make quilts with them very often. Reading your post makes me want to start one in the New Year!
