Now that everything is clean and organized around here, it's time to start working on my Mon Ami Schnibble for a Year of LaPetite. It is going to be a birthday gift for my mom so I selected fabrics that I think she will like. It can be difficult to pick out fabrics for someone that has taste very different from your own, nonetheless I am happy how all the pieces go together. The far left print will be the outer border and the center fabrics will be all the friendship stars.
I purchased the three fabrics on the right for a scrappy background. If you look closely at the original pattern, their is a secondary pattern utilizing a medium tone background. The top background is ever so slightly darker than the others and work for this (my LQS really didn't have anything else suitable as a medium tone). Another option would be to just go for a scrappy background without this secondary pattern (and this would eliminate 4HST per block, so a 100 for the project.) OR a third option would be just to use one background fabric, again eliminating a significant number of HSTs. At this point I am leaning towards a single background fabric and eliminating the corner HSTs but I feel a bit like that would be an easy way out? What would you do? I'd love to know!
Previous to this I was just putzing on a leftover project from my Pajama Party, a much needed new robe for myself. I finished the robe yesterday and the interlock seems a bit thin, so it may end up as a summer robe? (Then again, the nights here have been subzero!)
So what are you working on this week?
