Friday Finish: Butter Churn

This is Butter Churn by This & That.  I used a Renewal by Brannock & Patek charm pack and Kaufman quilters linen (from my LQS) for the background.  This pattern is the most challenging piece I've ever made in terms of which way to press what so that it would lay nicely.  I don't think I made the best choices, so it's quilted rather closely to camouflage the situation.  Another lesson for next time, is to stay stitch around the HST border... I've read it many times but never thought about it being needed for a smaller piece.  My edges have a bit of a wave that will wash out, but I learned my lesson in that area too.  The learning process always continues doesn't it?

Hope you all have a nice long weekend!

Well done! Love your fabric choices. And yes, learning continues esp when we ignore what we know to be true...I fail so often when trying to cut cornors :P

It came out beautifully and looks so nice with the quilting on it.

It looks great! It's funny how some quilts really need that stay stitching and others not. I'm not seeing the wave, but I'm sure you are right that it will wash out. I agree that it's hard to do those extra little steps when you're so close to the end of a project and you just want to finish!

Buttern Churn is beautiful... so sorry to hear that it gave you problems... in that case it's a good thing that it was small and now done! Seriously... it is beautiful and I don't see any inperfection at all.

I certainly am learning a lot by doing the La Petite project each month! Your Butter Churn turned out great Karen.

Oh! Thanks for the reminder to stay stitch it! I was thinking about quilting it soon and I haven't done that. I only started stay stitching my last few.......don't be hard on yourself! It looks great to me :) Lovely!!
