Update

My Fast & Furious UFO Challenge took a big crash as it was coming out of the starting blocks.  The week before last my youngest had a bad cold.  Yesterday he chose to sled downhill face first and landed right across a big ice chunk despite the fact that my husband who was standing right there told him to go down on his bottom.

My 9 year old has been sick for over three weeks with last week being the worst.  As a precaution against things sliding backwards over the weekend, I took him to the pediatrician last Friday afternoon (and his doctor the previous week and ER earlier in the week) and yesterday we found out he has whooping cough/pertussis.  So now that he is significantly improved, he has to hang out at home part of this week doing his homework until he finishes a course of antibiotics and is no longer contagious.

I have never been very good at getting much done when my kids are sick...the days are busy tracking meds, neb treatments and important stuff like eating and clean underwear.  At night, I always think I should sleep when I can as you don't know who is going to wake up when.  Fortunately, as they get older it seems like these situations are much less frequent.  Although today I happened to think, maybe I should try and sew when they are sick... if I ran up the two flights of stairs from the basement every time someone coughed I might be skinnier?

Last night I stayed up doing some un-stitching and am looking forward to a more normal week around here.  We are supposed to get a bit more snow and with any luck it'll be mother nature's last hurrah before spring arrives.  This afternoon I'm off to get this in the oven and then a monopoly match before we go pick up homework from school. What are you up to?

That is quite a smiling face! Hope the shiner doesn't get any bigger. I always felt like I couldn't get anything done with my daughter home sick either and I only had one!

I am heading out for a nice long walk when I get out of work.

Hope you get to sew when things calm down a bit!

That looks like a nasty scrape on your youngest son's face. Very close to his eye! I hope things calm down for you quickly and everyone is well.

I'm glad that everyone is on the mend. It was definitely much more important that you care for family than sew.

Sure hope the sickies get well soon and you can get back on your regular sewing schedule.

Ouch! That must have hurt! Did you see the sledding video of my kids that I posted in early January? They had never been on a sled before. No snow where we live! He may like to see that. Having sick kids is not easy.....I hope everyone is on the mend now :-)

That wee man is lucky not to have a black eye!
Whooping cough! Poor kid.. I hope he recovers really quick and you can get back to your sewing.

Oh I remember those days! The little guy doesn't look too upset with his skinned face. Hope health returns and you can get to your sewing. Yes, and may this next snow storm be the last Karen!

I just adore your little guy's face! I lived through those years with 5 boys! I love every memory of their antics!
