I am participating in the I Spy Charm Swap that Carla at Lollyquiltz is hosting. We are swapping sets of 20- 5 inch square charms. She gave us some great guidelines for fabric selection... "The novelty design should be good size, not tiny...it needs to be easily recognizable from a distance.Try to have the character centered on the charm as much as possible. " To test the appropriateness of the prints I had on hand and had purchased, I cut out a 4.5 inch square from a piece of cardstock to see how the prints would each look in a quilt. The first print I chose is this Kaufman design that has several older tractors. The size of the tractors work perfectly, so these will get fussy cut.
This Animals of the World print from Wilmington will get fussy cut also.
These blue crabs from a Timeless Treasures print are a perfect size but not so colorful? I may try to find something else. I think I picked this one with my stomach. (Remembering sauteed soft shell crabs from the Drake Hotel eons ago!)
I picked this baseball print up at Heavenly Patchwork (Sherri K Falls mom's shop) last week, I think they'll work great.
I also got this hammer and nails print that I think is ok, but may check with Carla on?
And this music print I had on hand, I don't think really works. So I may need to find another choice or so this week since not all of my fabrics passed the test...
There are still spots left open in the swap if you are interested and Carla posted a tutorial today of a super cute I Spy quilt, so go check it out!
