Two Year Blogiversary Giveaway!

With this summer being full of kid activities, I almost missed my Two Year Blogiversary?!  I certainly couldn't let the occasion go by without a giveaway, so I raided my OOP bin to share some favorites with you.

I decided two prizes were appropriate since I was celebrating two years.   I am giving away a set of 6 FQ of 1974 by the Urban Chiks for Moda and a set of 7 FQ of Garden Party by Anna Maria Horner for Freespirit.  I will draw two winners Friday evening the 29th, with the first person getting their choice of the two prizes.  To enter, just comment on this post...how about telling me your favorite brick & mortar quilt store since I'm sharing some Fabric Fieldtrips this month?

Also a few posts ago, I mentioned that this giveaway was coming up.  Those readers that commented on that post get an extra entry to this giveaway and from those names RNG picked a winner of the Wonderland charm pack pre-celebration giveaway... #1 Mary on Lake Pulaski.

Oh I wish I had a quilt shop close by. When I go visit my Mom at the beach we sometimes go to Accent Sewing in Murrells Inlet, SC. They sell Bernina machines as well as quilt fabric. So I can get machine accessories and fabric all at the same place. :)

Way to go Mary!! Thanks for celebrating with us. I have a lot of favourite stores, bit I think the most fun I've ever had at a brick & mortar was at the Stitchin' Post in Sisters, OR.

Carol in E TN said...

I have only been there once, but I loved Handcock's of Paducah! I love the way they have their fabrics organized.

Mary Grace McNamara said...

Congrats to Mary! I just made a tote bag using a charm pack of Wonderland and LOVE how it turned out! Lucky her!

As much as I love Keepsake Quilting, I find it overwhelming with so many thousands of bolts, and most of their fabric not arranged by designer or fabric line, just by color. So I would have to say Cobblestone Quilt shop in West Townsend, MA or The Black Cat Quilt Shop in Holden, MA are current favorites.

Happy Anniversary to you and your blog!

Well, if you ever get out to LA, M&L (mentioned above) is in Anaheim, and Sew Modern is closer to Santa Monica - both are fantastic! And there's an almost-all Japanese fabric store in Torrance, which has $2 fat quarters (yes, of the import fabrics - I die everytime I go in there!)

My favorite brick & mortar shop would have to be The Gathering Room in LaGrange, KY. Happy blogiversary!

Awe, I know what you mean about a busy kid filled summer. =) Congrats on your blogaversary! =)

I've only been in three quilt stores...so the one I would say is my favorite is the local Stash Attic. I've found some very nice fabrics there...however I wish she would carry more modern lines...and not ones that are old. =) Anyway, thanks for a chance to win!

Well, so far my favorite is Mary Jo's in Gastonia, NC. I say so far because I haven't been to too many but maybe I'll remedy that one day! Thanks for the chance to win.

Congratulations on 2 years of blogging!

My favorite LQS is a general store - it has a small, but well-curated, collection. I can always find loads that I love. And they also sell Hallmark, Thomas trains (and other toys) and have a candy counter! So I can always talk the kids into being good while I shop :)

I'd have to second Mary's vote for the Fabric Shack in Waynesville, OH. Their website is TERRIBLE, but the store just goes on and on and on! They have a good selection of each fabric line, not just 3 bolts of each one like the ones here in the Tulsa, OK, area.
I'm from a town near Waynesville, and now that I'm a quilter, I make it a point to go drool on a bolt or two when I visit home. :-)

Kelli said...

Good for you! I don't have a favorite LQS because the only one anywhere near me has very different tastes than me. Not a single Moda precut in the shop last time, but TONS of novelty and Asian prints (and I don't mean Lecien). The ladies are very nice, we just don't agree on style.

Janet said...

Oh groan - I seldom see bricks and mortar quilt stores. As my favourite I'm going to pick the quilt store in Haines Alaska. I have no idea what it is called. I haven't been to it for about three years but I spent a lot of money there when I was there last :)

My favorite LQS is a brick and mortar store that also sells online. It isn't the closest store, but carries the best selection in the area. I love spending time checking out all of the great fabric they have. I feel like since they do business locally and online they carry a larger selection of fabric. They also have a small room of marked down fabric - it's great!

Happy Anniversary!

My favorite (ok...the closest) store is Affordable Fabrics. Supports my desire to be "green" as they purchase end of the bolt, retired, etc. Plus, the pricing is great! (Selection leaves a bit to be desired sometimes...but that's okay, just forces creativity....and entering contests!)

We have a funny store here. Its a Ace Hardware-Ben Franklin but it has a corner of fabric that is great. They have the most wonderful flannel and are getting more of the quilting fabric in. Even the flat folds are good, although you have to be careful. If they don't have what you want their sister store 50 miles away and much bigger will check and get it to you.

Would you believe I've never been to a "real" quilt store?! I only have the most basic of supplies, mostly inherited from my mom, and I mostly sew with vintage sheets I find at the thrift store! I have to say how much I absolutely ADORE that 1974 fabric. It's kind of to die for : )

I've actually only been to two brick and mortar quilt shops ever. The Common Thread in Austin, TX is a cute little shop with lots of goodies. I picked up a fun Japanese hedgehog print on my last visit to Austin.

We don't have a brick and mortar dedicated quilting store within 250 miles of here, but my fave place to get fabrics is from Marden's; a surplus salvage type of place. THey have a wonderful selection of fabrics just not the latest stuff, but they are designer, and not usually the whole line either, but budget friendly!

I'm actually new to quilting so I haven't visited a brick n mortar quilt shop yet. I get my fabric from the fabric district in Downtown LA. My favorite store there is Micheal Levine and it has absolutely gorgeous fabric. They lack the notions of a quilting shop but they have lots of designer quilting fabric. Everything a girl could need.
