Sunday Stash: Yarn Dyed Essex

I am rather excited, I have some new fabric to share today.  The fabrics above are Robert Kaufman's yarn dyed essex linen blends in denim, flax, black and leather from top to bottom.  They are 55% linen and 45% cotton.  I generally don't prewash my fabrics, but plan to wash these before I use them.  I think they would be great in some patchwork pillows or bags!  I bought these from Lisa's Fresh Stash etsy shop.  (Lisa is a fellow Minneapolis Modern Guild member and has a large and very tempting assortment of fabrics in her shop.)  If you have used the Essex blends and have any advice to share I'd love to know and of course as always, if you'd like to see more Sunday Stash check out the flickr group.

I made myself a jacket out of the Essex blend, not the yarn dyed and it was great to work with as long as you can roll with not all wrinkles are going to iron out. I also made an entire quilt out of the Essex blend, again not the yarn dyed and same result - great texture with some wrinkled look.

Those are gorgeous. No, I have not sewn with them before.

Yummy! I used Essex Linen on my very first quilt and it was great. I did not wash it first. Lisa's got a great selection, doesn't she?
