Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day!

Thanks for stopping by for Sew Mama Sew's Giveaway Day!  I am giving away two Marmalade Mini Charm packs by Bonnie & Camille for Moda.

Today happens to be my birthday, so I am giving away a second prize to celebrate,  Quilting Modern by Jacquie Gering and Katie Pedersen.

To enter the giveaway for these items, just leave me a comment telling me your favorite quilting thread. (I'm taking a survey to use in an upcoming post I'm writing for the Minneapolis Modern Quilt Guild blog.)  This giveaway will be open until late in the evening December 7th and I will ship internationally!  Thanks again for stopping by!

Thanks so much!

I tend to mostly by Gutermann and really like it, but now I'm experimenting with others from my LQS. So far have really liked Prescencia and King Tut.

I use Gutermann sew-all for piecing and quilting. Admittedly, I haven't tried a bunch of different threads, but why mess about when what you have works well?

Tammy said...

I have a very old Bernina who gets a bit temperamental over thread so stick with Guttermans for everything, however I have just bought some aurifil to try out so fingers crossed that she likes it!

I love Aurifil. I won some and now I use it almost exclusively.

Happy Birthday! I use Gutterman, but only because I can get good deals on it. I haven't tried anything else, but hear great things about Aurifil. I'm heading to MN tomorrow to celebrate Christmas with my family. Hopefully it is not too cold there (ha ha).

I use Aurifil for my piecing and Superior's So Fine! for machine quilting. I used to use Gutterman a lot, but found I get a lot less lint with Aurifil with my piecing and I love how So Fine! looks for quilting.

I feel like a bad person - I've only ever used Coats and Clark (because that is what is available to me). I really need to try out Aurifil, though. I just need to drive the extra 10 minutes to get to a shop that sells it!
I have had my eye on that book for SO LONG! I would love to get my hands on it as well. :)

Hi! I've only made two quilts so far, but have another 5 to finish before the end of the year :-o (that does sound rather nuts...). I've only ever used Gutermann's, which is great but I have no comparison yet. It is easy to get locally though, the other's I'd have to buy online and pay shipping for - I will try, next year!! Oh, and Happy Birthday :)

I've never quilted, but for the quilt I recently made my favorite thread for the patchwork part was some DMC thread that says it's from Alsace. My Grandma has a long arm machine, so she did the actual quilting for me and I didn't ask what brand of thread she used!

Barbie Mills said...

I kind of want to try Aurifil, but I really prefer polyester threads because they last so much longer and won't break down over the years. I've been using Gutermann and Coat's and Clark for piecing so far, I'm planning to get some So Fine for piecing next. It is nice and thin and lint free like Aurifil, but is a poly thread so I like that. My quilting machine runs Superior Thread's Omni really well. It is affordable and comes in 6,000 yard cones that last FOREVER. I think I quilted 8 quilts of various sizes with one cone.
Thanks for the giveaway, I love the colors in Marmalade.
And happy birthday to you!!

Montseta said...
