Wednesday WIP: Freeport Gatherer Prep

Today I have been working on something new...a little homework for the Freeport Gatherer Basket class that I am taking this Friday at my LQS.  It has been fun to cut into to new fabric! (shopped from stash!)

A few weeks ago, I broke part of the plate on my Horizon so I have been sewing odds and ends on other machines and not feeling like I can make much progress on anything. Fortunately, I picked it up yesterday - just in time for this class!

I have my assortment of Kaffe Fasset brown prints cut into 2 1/2 strips ready for the sew together end to end.  The two larger pieces of fabric I've selected for my handles and lining.  Next I have to cut the duo-fuse fusible fleece into strips and press that into the wrong side of my very long chain of fabric strips, then fold the edges in, fold in half and stitch together so I have one VERY long fabric tube to make my basket out of.  With so much prep I've been told that basket should be close to finished at the end of class - and that sounds great to me!

I love those fabrics and have a few of them too. It is going to be gorgeous when you are finished.

I can't wait to see this all sewn up! How did you manage to break part of your machine plate? Isn't it metal?

I don't usually like orange fabrics, but that selection is stunning. I hope you post a photo of the finished bag.
