Cold

New Year's Day we were going to go ice fishing as a family with some friends and the forecast was a bit below zero.  Late the night before, I remembered that I had not finished a neck gaiter that I had started a winter or two ago for my husband.  Unable to sleep, I found the project and finished it up rather quickly.  As you can see from the photo above, it was a simple project...one seam and lycra trim on some Polartec Windpro fleece.  A few years ago I made a balaclava (face mask) for one of my son's out of the same fabric.

Living in a warm climate (Houston) for several years and then moving back to the cold made me realize not all outerwear is created equal. Especially on a day like today in Minnesota where our forecast is for 40 to 50 degrees BELOW zero wind chills.  On occasion of this phenomenally cold day, I thought this simple project would be good inspiration to share along with my fabric source. (Windpro fleece and lycra for binding from seattlefabrics.com)  Hope you are all warm somewhere today!

I can't believe the winter weather you have had this year. I'm sure that will help keep him warm.
