Minneapolis Modern Quilt Guild Mystery Quilt Along

This year Kristin is leading the Minneapolis Modern Quilt Guild in a mystery quilt along!    I knew that I wanted to participate but decided to wait until the first blocks were posted before finalizing my fabric choice.  I decided to be a bit of a modern guild rebel and go more traditional with my fabric selection.  Lately I have been loving on civil war backgrounds after incorporating so many into this quilt, and I have a quite a few more traditional/civil war prints from this quilt...and shopping my stash was a must.

These are my January blocks...8 - 9" blocks, 4 blocks each spinning a different way.  I'm looking forward to watching this quilt develop, I've never done a mystery quilt along and am a bit obsessive so it feels good to let go a bit and just sew without all the analysis of my choices.  Have you ever done a mystery quilt along...how did you like it or how did it turn out?
